Treaty of Paris got together again for a night to open up for Ludo’s Christmas show (speaking of Ludo, keep an eye out for the next post) a few weeks ago.

Merry Christmas to us. We love Treaty of Paris.

Oh, Mike… elves don’t smoke.

I have a ton of concert photos to post… so instead of posting just the new stuff, I thought I would go back a few months and post a bit from some older shows. This set is from December 20th of last year – at Treaty of Paris’ Christmas concert. It was a great showing of the Chicago scene; several friends of the band came out to perform two to three songs acoustically before Treaty of Paris’ big headlining set. Alex Maier (previously of Treaty of Paris before he moved shortly after this show), even performed a few songs on his own as you can see from the photos below.

Treaty of Paris @ The House
A little sneak peek, because I know there are some people that want to see a few of these. More are coming.

Tonight was Treaty of Paris’ final show (well, you know, aside from the few shows a year that they’ve promised to play). It’s a sad thing… those of you who have followed my blog for a while probably recognize the band as one that I shoot pretty regularly (or did when my life wasn’t consumed with weddings). I have known the majority of the band since 2003, when they were all in different bands. In fact, Phil (guitar) was in the second band that I ever shot… that was hundreds of bands ago. Needless to say, I love them all.

The best part of the night was when they invited all the fans onstage to sing the last song with them, which is what’s going on in the above photo. It was a very Treaty ending to the show.

A few more photos are under the cut… just a few early favorites…

Treaty of Paris @ JBTV
For those not in the Chicago area, JBTV is a brodcasted, Emmy-winning program that is dedicated to local (and sometimes not-so-local) music. It’s a show that has kept true to it’s roots – totally non-corporate, and it just celebrated its 25 anniversary. It’s basically an institution for Chicago music lovers. Walking around the studio is like walking through a museum. Everything on the walls and on the tables are signed… even some chairs are signed!

Imagine my happiness when I was invited to take photos for Treaty of Paris’ performance on there just a few weeks ago! This was the fourth night of what I dubbed my “Treaty of Paris week,” as I shot a rehearsal, their EP release, promos, and then their JBTV appearance. Luckily, I love these guys, otherwise I might have been sick of them. It really is a testament to their performance that I wasn’t sick of them. I could have watched them a few more nights, in fact.

Treaty of Action Rehearsal @ The Stained Glass Palace
One of the things I want to do more of is the “behind-the-scenes” type stuff – rehearsals, backstage, recordings, etc. I love shooting live shows, but there is so much more that goes into a good band than just a concert. I’ve been lucky in my photography career to meet a bunch of amazing bands, and ones that don’t mind me hanging around and taking some pictures here and there.

These shots are from a rehearsal a few days before the Treaty of Paris Currents release show. Treaty of Paris and Last Fast Action met up at Treaty’s rehearsal space (also known as “The Stained Glass Palace”) to run “Currents” and “Hey Luv” together since they were performing them together at the show. This was an especially fun rehearsal since “Hey Luv” is a classic local scene song from The Dog & Everything (LFA’s previous band) and it hasn’t been played for years.
