This was a wonderful show, first opened by Wolfgang Schaefer (oh oh! pictures of him here!), who was great, and then Snowsera. Snowsera surprised us by playing some stuff that we hadn’t heard yet (which you can download now, for free!). I always love when bands break out the new stuff, especially when you can tell that the band is trying to push themselves to do something different, which was apparent in Snowsera’s new music. Overall, it was just one of those local shows that make you excited about local music. Yay, I like those.

Shooting Notes
Subterranean is a small venue, and as it is with small venues, there is never good light. Surprisingly, I didn’t have too much trouble with the amount of light this time, merely the quality. The light was very spotty – hot is some places, faint in others. A person, depending on where they were standing, could also be half bright red, and half dark blue, which is never a flattering look. But, off kilter lighting is the price of being addicted to the local scene.
One thing I do like about Subterranean (or SubT, as we call it), is that there is a balcony that is directly above the stage. It allows for some intriguing angles that are rarely achievable.
This set was mostly shot with primes – 35mm f/1.4 & 135mm f/2 – both wide open and at shutter speeds around 1/125-1/160. ISO was all over the place to account for different hot spots – generally between 3200 & 6400, though.
