This is a bit of an old set (back from the early fall – oh warmth!), but I’ve been meaning to post it for a while. Backstage photos are always my favorite. For this set, I just asked Snowsera if they minded if I hung out with them a bit before their show, and they graciously welcomed me. I love the look of Subterranean, and spending some time with the Snowsera guys is always a treat!
Shooting Notes
Lots of high ISO and lots of prime lens use for this set (35mm & 135mm primarily). As it was before the show, there were very few lights on, and the dark decor of SubT ate up a lot of the existing light anyway. I could have used flash, but I wanted these to be gritty and real – hence the high ISOs and wide-open apertures (f/1.4, f/2, or f/2.8 depending on the lens).
Other than that, these were 95% candids – I didn’t do any direction, just worked on my photojournalism skills.
