Semi-Precious Weapons is one of the best live bands that you will ever see. This set is from a stop on the Perez Hilton Tour, currently they’re on tour with The Sounds, and next they’re touring with Lady Gaga… it seems like bands keep snatching them up to be tour partners. It’s not a mystery why… full of energy, shocking, and undeniably true to themselves, they never fail to make a crowd go insane. Really, there’s nothing else to say, just go see them.
Shooting Notes
Horrendous light. Really really bad. The red wash for the majority of the three songs was so dim and deep that it was nearly impossible to focus. Many shots had to be converted to B&W because that was the only way I could save them. I was really disappointed; this was part of the Perez Hilton Tour, so I assumed that they would have great lighting, but I’ve seen better lighting come out of bars with two overhead lights. Luckily, SPW is such a dynamic band that they can make anything look good, so I still got some shots that I enjoy for the content, if not for the light quality.
Looking back, maybe I should have shot with with a prime, so I could have opened up to f/1.4… however, SPW is a band that loves the wide-angle, and I had trouble justifying using the 35mm on them, when I had the 16-35 in my bag.
