I first remember seeing The Scissors a years ago, in a small suburban bar. It’s surprising I’ve only seen them a time or two since. Despite several line-up changes, they’ve been around forever! A definite fixture of the local scene.
The Scissors are finishing up (or have recently finished?) recording their upcoming album, “You Can Make It Dangerous,” and you can check out three of their new songs on their Myspace.
Shooting Notes
The lighting was pretty static for this set – the difficult part of the shoot was the strong light coming from the sides of the stage, right next to the performers. It created some strong hot spots that performers would step in and out of, causing constantly changing exposures depending on stage location. Other than that, it wasn’t a difficult set to shoot, which was nice for a change. It was, however, hard to turn the camera off of Darren and Yvonne, as they were the most animated.
I used the trusty 16-35mm lens for most of this set, since the band was not afraid to come to the front of the stage. Exposures stayed around 1/125 and f/2.8, but ISO drastically and constantly varied between 1000-4000.
