The Frantic @ Summerfest

Welcome to the first post of Frantic week on my blog!

The Frantic played Summerfest this year, on the same stage as Reel Big Fish, in fact.  They had a long set (almost an hour, I think?), so they played many songs that I had not heard before, and just generally had fun with the masses of Summerfest-ians in front of them. (more…)

The Frantic @ Summerfest

I’ve been doing a lot of wedding and portrait work lately (see, check out my website and my other blog), so I haven’t been posting as many concert sets as I’d like to be. With that in mind, I realized that I have a few sets of photos from recent Frantic shows, namely their House of Blues set and a set from Summerfest, so I thought that it would be fun to do a theme week. In addition to the standard live photos, I also have an extra CD of theirs that I’m going to be giving away, as well as another 8×10 print. And, as if that weren’t enough, I’m also going to have a surprise bonus post about them next Thursday.

So, stay tuned to this blog next week for chances to win stuff, and to check out some fun shots!

Rancid @ Summerfest

Rancid is legendary. While I might not be a huge fan of punk rock, even I know who Rancid is, and appreciate the impact that they’ve had on music. When I heard that they were playing at Summerfest this year, I knew I had to shoot them. Playing on the Harley Davidson stage, their set was fast-paced and polished – you could tell that they’ve been doing this a while. Their fans were insane, screaming so loud it seemed that they almost drowned out the music.  And, of course, the backdrop of motorcycles (it WAS the Harley stage, after all), perfectly suited their leather jackets and rebel attitudes. A bit ago, I blogged about shooting behind-the-scenes photos of Company of Thieves’ “Pressure” video shoot. It’s been a long wait, but the video is finally released. It really captures the mood of the song, and is great to see how they translated the scenes I saw being filmed into a cohesive video.

Check out the pictures here, then compare them to the video here!
