Welcome to the first post of Frantic week on my blog!
The Frantic played Summerfest this year, on the same stage as Reel Big Fish, in fact. They had a long set (almost an hour, I think?), so they played many songs that I had not heard before, and just generally had fun with the masses of Summerfest-ians in front of them.
It was a great set, and I don’t really have much to say aside from that. They always have a great set, and give it their all, so I feel like I repeat myself. If you want some more reviews, check out some of my older posts.

Shooting Notes
I know I always say this, but The Frantic is so much fun to shoot. Aside from having so much energy (if they could bottle it and sell it, they’d be rich), they’re not afraid of the front of the stage or the camera. At least a few times a set, they come right into my camera and play it up, which always makes for fun images.
Another bonus for this show: the pit was relatively empty (except for my friend Britton!), so I was allowed to stay and shoot the whole set, which was a luxury at Summerfest. I’m happy I did shoot the whole set, because many of my favorite images came from the latter part of the set.
I shot this with a wide variety of lenses. I started off with my “festival duo” of lenses – the 70-200mm and 24-70mm – but kept changing the 24-70mm out. I stayed with the 16-35mm for a while, and then for the last few songs, I changed to the 15mm fisheye, which is glorious when used sparingly. The sun was out, but diffused, so, while I still like stage lights better than sun, there was a nice steady quality of light for this set.
