I shot Snowsera at Schubas a few months ago, and had so much fun doing so that I was thrilled when they asked me to come out to their headlining show at the Metro last weekend. (more…)
I am normally not a fan of electronic music. I like my keyboards here and there, but vocal effects and the keyboard as the main instrument usually don’t thrill me.
An exception is LIGHTS. From Toronto, this tiny little girl has a lot of power and charisma onstage. She was upbeat and got the Beat Kitchen rockin’ – and even did a Backstreet Boys cover! Definitely quirky and colorful (her merch table was an explosion of neon!), LIGHTS was definitely a surprise. I went in not expecting to like her, but she won me over after just a few songs. And, even better? She hung out at merch until all of her fans left, taking pictures and talking to everyone. Definite brownie points.
She’s on a huge tour right now, so check out her Myspace and see if she’s coming by you. Also, while you’re there, listen to “February Air,” it’s my favorite. (more…)
One of my most favorite bands, Last Fast Action, just released a new single today called “Satellite.” It’s a great song, super fun and spacey. It’s up for free download, so there is no reason for you not to check it out:
I also shot promos for them a little while ago, which they just posted all over their Myspace!
PS. Check out their interview about “Satellite,” writing as a duo, and sea salt on TheyWillRockYou.com ! Oh yeah, and a few of the promos are posted there too!
Just got back from this show, and I had such a great time that I couldn’t resist posting just one real quick.
Semi-Precious Weapons keeps getting better and better. Check out their Myspace. They are on tour, and you should see them.
A TON more pictures and a proper review/shooting notes to come soon.

A Scrap of Noise, a photobook by Jacinta Mathews
This is a post of a different sort.
I get so much help and inspiration from several concert photographers, that I would like to give them a little recognition (and some linkage). The individuals mentioned all know their stuff, and put a ton of heart and soul into their work, and it shows. Concert photography is a hard business, but their pictures look effortless. Those I point out here should most definitely be on your radar; add them on friends on Flickr or RSS their blog feeds, you won’t be sorry. (more…)
