Treaty of Paris formed in January of 2005, and since then, has had a multitude of successes. They have the honor of being the only band currently signed to Andrew McMahon’s (of Jack’s Mannequin) label, Airport Tapes and Records, as well as being the only band to participate in Q101′s reality series entitled Breaking The Band. They have packed the Metro, and toured the country with several large acts, including Yellowcard and The Spill Canvas.
This show, titled Cancel Out Cancer, was another tally mark on their list of accomplishments. The concert benefited the American Cancer Society in honor of Treaty’s guitarist’s father, Fred Kosch, who recently succumbed to cancer. The show was packed, and when it was all said and done, $7,000.45 was raised from ticket sales and donations.
Highlights of the show included a guest appearance from Andrew McMahon during “I’ll Come Back” and a cover of “With A Little Help From My Friends” during which the other bands of the night joined Treaty on stage.
Shooting Notes
Despite being the headliner, Treaty’s set was even dimmer than Quietdrive’s set (who played main support). Luckily, I had the full set to shoot, because I had more discarded photos than normal due to the dismal conditions. For the majority of the set, I used the 16-35mm f/2.8 on my 5D, with the 24-70mm f/2.8 on my Mark II. ISO3200 was my friend, as was wide open apertures, and a shutter speed range of 1/80-1/125. Despite the high ISO, I still had to push most of the photos a stop or so in post, creating noiser images than I usually care for.
